The Early Assessment Program (EAP) is a collaborative effort to ensure that college-bound high-school graduates have the English and mathematics skills expected by the state university. The EAP has three components: early testing, the opportunity for additional preparation in the 12th grade, and professional development activities for high school English and mathematics teachers. This link takes you to the writing topics on the 11th grade assessments, rubrics and scoring guides. Open each topic and you can see examples of student writing at each score point of the rubric.

WriterCoach Connection began in 2000 in Berkeley. As of spring 2010, it is in place in schools in Oakland, Berkeley and Albany, coaching students in grades 7 through 10, but mostly in middle school grades 7 and 8.

WritingFix is organized around the 6 traits of writing. The 6-Trait model is an analytic way of thinking about writing skills. It helps give developing writers a vocabulary so they can identify and talk about their personal strengths as writers. It also helps them develop a vocabulary for talking about where their writing might benefit from some further rethinking and revision. The WritingFix website is dedicated to giving students and teachers a better ability to use 6-Trait language in the classroom.
